Common faults and solutions of chillers
Publishing Unit:Thacon
Industrial chillers may encounter some common faults during operation. Here are some possible failure conditions:
1. Poor cooling effect: The cooling effect of the chiller may decrease or fail completely. Possible causes include refrigerant leaks, fouling buildup in the evaporator or condenser, compressor failure, or electronic control system failure.
a:Check the refrigerant pressure and charge. If there is a leak, repair the leak and recharge the refrigerant.
b:Clean the evaporator and condenser to remove dirt and ensure good heat exchange.
c:Check the operating status of the compressor. If there is any problem, repair or replace the compressor.
2. Compressor failure: The compressor is the core component of the chiller. Common failures include difficulty in starting the compressor, abnormal noise, overheating, lubricating oil leakage, etc. This can be caused by electrical problems, motor failure, internal compressor failure, or overloading.
a:Check the circuit connections to make sure the power supply is normal.
b:Check the compressor motor and repair or replace it if it is faulty.
c:Check the inside of the compressor. If there are problems such as overheating or lubricant leakage, repair or replacement is required.
3. Water pump failure: The chiller uses a water pump to circulate cooling water or coolant. The water pump may have problems such as blockage, leakage, motor failure, etc., resulting in poor circulation or complete stoppage.
a:Check the water pump motor and repair or replace the motor if it is faulty.
b:Clean the water pump and remove blockages.
c:Check the water pump seals and replace them if leaking.
4. Control system failure: The control system of the chiller may have failures, such as sensor failure, control panel failure, electrical connection problems, etc., which may result in inaccurate temperature control or failure to operate properly.
a:Check the sensor to make sure it is working properly.
b:Check the control panel and electrical connections and repair or replace damaged parts.
c:If necessary, recalibrate the temperature control system
5. Condenser or evaporator is clogged: The condenser and evaporator are key components for heat exchange of the chiller. If they are clogged or dirt accumulates, it will affect the heat transfer effect and lead to a decrease in cooling effect.
a:Clean the condenser and evaporator to remove dirt.
b:Maintain your condenser and evaporator regularly to prevent clogging and dirt build-up.
6. Cooling water system failure: The cooling water system of the chiller may have pipe leaks, valve failures, water quality problems, etc., which may lead to poor circulation or excessive water temperature.
a:Repair pipe leaks and replace damaged valves.
b:Check cooling water quality and perform water treatment if necessary.
c:Clean the cooling water system and ensure it is flowing smoothly.
